Let’s make a difference, together!
The holiday season is your time to make a difference in the lives of others.
Using time and hidden money to make a difference
“The purpose of life is not only to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” so said Ralph Waldo Emerson.
You can easily do this by catching up on relationships that you have let go by the wayside, or making special moments for your children. Making a real difference is to go out of your way to do even more.
There are over 100,000 people living on the streets in Australia. That’s over 100,000 people alone at a time of the year when family and community is most important. Furthermore, over 2 million, or up to 12.5% of Australians are below the poverty line. These are startling statistics. But everyone can make a difference.
A little effort for a cash stash!
Every cent is precious and a lot of cents are hidden all around your home. Not just caught in the dryer or behind the couch. It’s in the things you don’t need. Those outgrown children toys, a set of skis or surfboard collecting dust just because your knees are shot? Sell them. The wedding presents of silverware and fine china that you have never used? More hidden cash found for you to make a difference!
Delivering smiles is easy
Helping others in need can give you enormous satisfaction. Like giving gifts at Christmas, the act of charity is important for our own self-actualisation. Your generosity will also influence your children and other people around you in a positive way.
The benefits of making a difference do not stop there. Scheduling donations can also help you improve your own money management month-to-month. Finally, as the saying goes, time is money. If you cannot donate money, consider donating time. Help out by serving food at a homeless shelter, meals on wheels and a host of other options is available.
It’s not hard to be the difference in the world.
